IXION PROJECT

IXION PROJECT

IXION’ – the windowless private plane by technicon design, has fuselage and wing mounted cameras that send unhindered comprehensive exterior views to the flexible screens that cover the cabin’s walls. parallax barrier technology allows multiple displays on one screen so in-flight video conferencing and the 360° view can be visible simultaneously.

AMORPHOUS SOLAR PANELS

TO DRIVE LOW VOLTAGE SYSTEMS ON-BOARD

Winner in the 2014 international yacht & aviation awards in the exterior design category, ‘IXION’ incorporates gesture driven environment control to the passengers. the interior ambiance is unlimited with design possibilities thanks to the real time cameras and interacting displays. in order to drive low voltage systems on-board, a series of amorphous solar panels are placed on the upper front half of the exterior, which also powers the sensors for the passenger tracking system.

The user experience is greatly enhanced by directly engaging the passengers with the environment outside, giving an unhindered panoramic view,’ said gareth davies, design director at technicon’s french studio. ‘we quickly settled on the controversial yet interesting idea of removing the windows from the cabin and using existing or very near future technology to display the exterior environment on flexible screens.’
